Basketball Betting Lines

03/25/2007 - Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Kevin Garnett's fade away jumper as time expired pushed the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Portland Trail Blazers, 94-93, at the Target Center.

Garnett scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Minnesota, which won for just the second time in its last six games and sits 3 1/2 games behind the LA Clippers for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference.

Randy Foye poured in 17 points, Ricky Davis added 15 points and dished out eight assists, and Mike James finished with 11 points and five assists for the Timberwolves. Mark Blount and Craig Smith each scored 10 points apiece.

Brandon Roy scored 22 points, and Zach Randolph chipped in with 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Trail Blazers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped and are now five games off the final spot in the Conference.

Martell Webster and LaMarcus Aldridge each donated 13 points, and Jamaal Magloire had 10 points and nine rebounds for Portland.

With the game tied at 68 heading to the fourth quarter, no team held more than a two-point edge in the next 5 1/2 minutes. A pair of free throws by Roy briefly gave Portland an 80-78 edge before Foye quickly evened the score by driving the lane and putting one in off the glass.

Webster hit a three, and Randolph followed with a tip-shot on consecutive possessions for the Trail Blazers, as they opened an 89-84 lead with 2:42 remaining.

Minnesota followed with an 8-0 run -- highlighted by Foye's driving dunk -- to take a 92-89 lead with 51 seconds to play. Roy answered with a layup for Portland to make it a one-point game, and got the ball back when Garnett was called for traveling.

Aldridge got the tip-in on Jarrett Jack's missed layup with nine ticks remaining, but Garnett's fade away fell at the buzzer for the final margin.

Portland opened the first quarter on a 10-4 run, and Roy's three-point shot pushed the lead to seven at 5:24.

The Timberwolves clawed their way back, as Hassell's hook shot closed the gap to 20-18 at 1:48, and it was tied, 22-22, heading to the second stanza.

It remained tight through the second stanza, as Minnesota held a 39-35 lead with 4:07 remaining in the half. Portland followed with a 9-2 burst, however, and held a three-point cushion at 2:17.

Garnett's alley oop dunk brought the Timberwolves within a point, but Magloire's layup gave the Trail Blazers a 47-44 margin at intermission.

Roy's jumper pushed the Portland lead to six, 50-44, a little more than a minute into the third quarter. Minnesota answered by reeling off the next seven points, however, to regain the lead.

Foye's running jumper with two ticks remaining in the third stanza deadlocked the contest at 68-68 heading to the fourth.

Game Notes
